Go easy on yourself
Some days, nothing goes right. Nothing gets done. You feel angry or lethargic or sad. The very thought of happiness is foreign – an impostor. Everyone hates you. You can barely stand yourself. Life sucks. You can’t make decisions, do your job, or even be nice.
Days like this just happen. Consider them part of the cycle of living. A bit of bad beef perhaps. A day of raging hormones. Some unacknowledged anger or disappointment. New Year’s resolutions that haven’t gone anywhere…yet.
Don’t let it to get to you. Accept this moment in your cycle. Watch a movie, eat some comfort food. Write in your journal. Drink water. Give yourself a little love. And when that brighter moment comes, seize it and try again.

Thanks for the gentle reminder to be nice to me. I am thankful to still have access to your wisdom after so many years and so many miles.
Thank you so much Shan – and so wonderful to hear from you. I hope your year is filled with deep, enriching personal kindnesses.
Hi Ephraim,
Keep thinking about your post about being gentle with yourself on those slouchy, grouchy days that we all have. Prior to reading it, I had just listened to Chopra’s “Magical Mind, Magical Body” for the THIRD time. Great wisdom there. He talks about the Ayurvedic concept of body types (doshas) and how to bring about balance when physical and emotional imbalances are preventing us from experiencing bliss. For example, a couch potato day with movies and comfort food would probably be very beneficial for my body type (and oh, so hard for my fast-paced do-er to allow). But for a kapha dosha, it would probably create further imbalance. Chopra talks about a variety of things to satisfy each body type–from activity or lack of it, fluids, temperatures, touch, sounds, smells and “pacifying” foods. And what about all that negative thinking that crowds out the joy? Allow those thoughts to escape on paper, or through vocalization or even by throwing your own little adult fit (might want to be sure you’re alone). And let the positive affirmations begin to flow. Have a blissful day!
Wow Peg!
What fabulous advice! Thank you very much!
Ephraim
